Dr Christos Venetis is an obstetrician and gynaecologist and a leading expert in reproductive medicine. He has a special interest in ovarian stimulation, reproductive endocrinology, and endometrial receptivity and holds consultations at IVF Australia in Alexandria as well as at St George Private Hospital.
Dr Venetis is involved with a variety of clinical research projects and works closely with academics in Europe and Asia. He has authored over 95 papers in international scientific journals as well as many book chapters. In 2019, he was in the top 2% of the world's most cited researchers in Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine.
Dr Venetis graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2003 before earning his Master of Science and his PhD in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He also completed a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from Hellenic Open University in 2013. After finishing his OB/GYN residency and his subspecialty training in reproductive medicine, Dr Venetis relocated to Australia and was given an NHMRC Early Career Fellowship for his research on the health of mothers and newborns following assisted reproductive technologies. Dr Venetis is presently employed at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, where he combines his clinical and epidemiological expertise with big data to improve the outcomes of IVF patients.
Dr Venetis is also an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales and has been asked to speak at over 100 international scientific conferences. He is an advocate of evidence-based medicine and is dedicated to improving modern clinical research methods. He currently sits on the Human Reproduction Editorial Board since 2008 and is a reviewer for reproductive medical journals as well as the BMJ and PLOS Medicine.
