Dr Raj has carried out substantial research in the area of diabetes and has a number of peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Emergency Medicine Journal, Environmental Health, and the Journal of Surgical Sciences. She has carried out research into retinal vascular disease with a particular focus on diabetic retinopathy and is currently working with The Diabetes Institute in Melbourne.

Dr Raj also has a passion for medical education and, as well as co-authoring a textbook on retinal vascular disease, she delivers lectures to medical students at the University of Melbourne. Dr Raj understands the importance of a holistic approach to eye care and has, as a result, founded ‘The Retinal Hub' which is an initiative designed to encourage the sharing of knowledge and communication between ophthalmology and optometry.
