About Dr Catrin Williams
Dr Catrin Williams is a Consultant Anaesthetist based at Practice Plus Group Hospital in Shepton Mallet, where she serves as Lead Consultant Anaesthetist, and also works at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. She has specialised in anaesthetics since 2016, following her medical degree (MB BCh) from the University of Wales in 2006. Dr Williams has a strong interest in perioperative medicine, with a particular focus on optimising patients throughout the surgical pathway. Working primarily in a dedicated surgical centre, she is a key advocate for day case surgery and plays an active role in enhancing perioperative care, including digital pre-assessment, patient optimisation, and prehabilitation. Her commitment to improving surgical outcomes and streamlining patient pathways has led her to take a leading role in the development of pre-assessment services within her hospital. As a member of the British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) Council, she is passionate about promoting the value of day surgery, both for patients and for the wider healthcare system, especially during the ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Williams is widely respected for her patient-focused approach and her contributions to modernising anaesthetic and perioperative care through innovation, leadership, and clinical excellence.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
