His specialisation in thyroid and head and neck cancer was solidified through participation in the National Training Interface Group of Surgical Oncology fellowship at Guy’s and St. Thomas Foundation Trust.

He has a Master’s degree in Meniere’s disease and a Ph.D. focused on laryngotracheal stenosis. Mr. Mettias is committed to medical education, having served as a lecturer at Fayoum University and contributed significantly to dissection courses for core trainees and specialty registrars. He also plays an active role as a tutor for national academic ENT courses and supports the East of England deanery as a clinical and educational supervisor. He is an honorary lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.
