Annakan Navaratnam is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in rhinology and facial plastic surgery. Within the NHS, he works at the Royal National ENT Hospital, University College London Hospital (UCLH), and is an honorary consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

He runs a tertiary rhinology service within the NHS, receiving referrals from across the country for complex nasal and sinus conditions. His dedicated adult rhinology clinics focus on the management of nasal blockage, allergy and sinus disease, and he works within a multidisciplinary team alongside allergy, respiratory and rheumatology specialists. He is also part of the Craniofacial team at UCLH, collaborating with ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons, maxillofacial and plastic surgeons to manage complex craniofacial conditions, including cleft lip and palate and congenital syndromes. At Great Ormond Street Hospital, he leads a specialist clinic dedicated to children with nasal disorders.

Mr Navaratnam is highly experienced in managing both adult and paediatric ENT conditions, with particular expertise in complex nasal surgery. His specialist skills include septorhinoplasty and nose reshaping surgery, endonasal (scarless) rhinoplasty, revision septorhinoplasty and advanced endoscopic sinus surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in the UK with a dedicated tertiary paediatric rhinology practice.

He trained at Imperial College School of Medicine and completed higher surgical training in the North Thames Deanery in London. He subsequently undertook the Royal College of Surgeons post-CCT Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Charing Cross Hospital.

He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, written six NHS England national clinical guidelines and received 13 prizes for his clinical and academic achievements. He regularly teaches on local and national ENT instructional courses, is an invited speaker at international conferences and is actively involved in training the next generation of surgeons. He mentors medical students and junior doctors, serves as a clinical supervisor for higher surgical trainees in ENT and volunteers to speak to school students about careers in medicine.

Mr Navaratnam is the National Clinical Advisor in ENT for the Getting is Right First Time Programme and a council member of the British Rhinology Society.
