About

Dr Andrew Thorpe is a highly skilled Oral Surgeon with extensive experience in surgery involving the mouth and associated structures. He specialises in the management of wisdom teeth and the placement of dental implants, and his approach to patient care is centred on providing the best possible outcome while ensuring that the patient is fully informed about the risks and benefits of any recommended procedures.

Dr Thorpe completed his Bachelor of Oral Health and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry from Griffith University in 2008, where he received awards for academic excellence. He then spent a decade working in North Queensland, during which time he completed a Graduate Diploma of Dental Implantology and became a Diplomate of the International College of Oral Implantologists. He has also presented dental implant lectures both in Australia and internationally.

After moving to Sydney, Dr Thorpe completed a Graduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry in Surgical Dentistry and a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery, both at the University of Sydney. He was granted the inaugural Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence for his specialty training from the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral Surgeons. He is also a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney.

Dr Thorpe's research endeavours have focused on Oral Surgery education and evidence-based Oral Surgery practice, and he has a particular interest in the management of wisdom teeth, dental implantology including dental implant placement and bone grafting, and the management of oral pathology. He is committed to providing high-quality, individualised care to his patients and to ensuring that they fully understand their options and the procedures that they are undergoing.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
