Dr Alpa Kanji

Dr Alpa Kanji is a Consultant Dermatologist specialising in the care of adults and children with a wide range of skin conditions. She is experienced in treating eczema, psoriasis, acne, vitiligo, pigmentation disorders and hair loss. She also offers mole checks, skin cancer screening, and minor skin surgery. Known for her kind, caring and empathetic approach, Dr Kanji looks after each patient holistically, ensuring they feel fully supported throughout their care.  Dr Kanji works at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust—one of the UK’s leading centres for skin disease. She is also Clinical Lead for Paediatric Dermatology at University Hospital Lewisham. She studied Medicine at King’s College London and completed her dermatology training in London. She has also gained international experience at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and completed a senior fellowship in paediatric dermatology at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. Dr Kanji holds a degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Cambridge. Alongside her clinical work, she is actively involved in research and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. She has held an honorary position as Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. She has been appointed as an Executive Committee Member of the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology, contributing to setting national standards of care in paediatric dermatology in the UK and serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the National Eczema Society.
