After graduating, he completed his postgraduate ENT training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. He also completed tertiary level training in paediatric ENT at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Evelina London, as well as a fellowship at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011 and received his Diploma of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2012. In 2018 he became a Fellow in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in 2020, Mr Al-Lami completed his Master's degree with distinction in International Health Management at the University of Sheffield.

Mr Al-Lami sees patients with a wide range of conditions, including: sleep disorders, tonsil and adenoid problems, parathyroid problems, thyroid problems and voice problems. He has expertise in airway surgery, thyroidectomy (thyroid surgery), septoplasty, reduction of inferior turbinate, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, parathyroidectomy, rhinology surgery, robotic surgery, adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Al-Lami is actively involved in ENT research. He has published several papers in peer reviewed journals and frequently gives lectures. He is passionate about teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and founded the multidisciplinary robotic surgery course for his medical students.
