About

Mr Alex Hoyle is a Consultant Urologist practising at Spire Manchester Hospital and Salford Royal NHS Trust. He specialises in uro-oncology and complex pelvic reconstruction, with experience in both open and robotic pelvic surgery. His clinical expertise covers a broad spectrum of urological conditions, including male and female incontinence, haematuria, bladder and kidney stone disease, foreskin abnormalities, prostate cancer diagnostics, and testicular issues.

Mr Hoyle has been a consultant since 2021 and has extensive experience performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Within his NHS role, he has carried out hundreds of surgeries, including circumcisions, hydrocele repairs, vasectomies, orchidectomies, ureteroscopies, and transurethral resections of bladder and prostate tumours. He also leads on pelvic oncology and has developed a robotic bladder service alongside a benign reconstructive clinic for complex cases.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Hoyle was appointed Clinical Director in 2022. He also serves as module lead for the national urology trainee boot camp and holds the role of research lead within his department. His academic work includes a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Manchester, and he is the principal investigator on several ongoing clinical trials. He is committed to expanding research opportunities and is working towards a regional trial network.

Mr Hoyle completed his medical degree at Manchester University in 2009, followed by a Doctorate of Medicine in 2019. He holds a PGCert in Medical Education from Edge Hill and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Urol) in 2020. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the European Association of Urology, and the Royal College of Surgeons.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
