Ms Alessia Rossi
Cardiothoracic Surgery
About
She graduated in Italy and completed her cardiothoracic surgical training across leading European centres, gaining comprehensive experience in adult cardiac surgery. After completing the National Training Programme in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Pavia, she moved to the United Kingdom to further develop her expertise at Barts Heart Centre. There, she refined her skills in mitral valve repair, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive techniques aimed at reducing surgical trauma, enhancing recovery, and improving long-term outcomes.
In 2020, she was awarded the prestigious SCTS-Ionescu Non-NTN Surgical Travelling Fellowship by the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland. During this fellowship, she undertook advanced training in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery at Ospedale del Cuore G. Pasquinucci under Dr Marco Solinas, and in minimally invasive cardiac surgery at the Lancisi Cardiovascular Centre under Professor Marco Di Eusanio. She also gained experience in transcatheter structural interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), enabling her to offer balanced, patient-centred advice across both surgical and catheter-based treatment options.
Ms Rossi has been actively involved in service development within cardiac surgery, including the implementation of remote monitoring pathways to support peri-operative safety and continuity of care following discharge. Her clinical approach combines technical precision with modern minimally invasive strategies and multidisciplinary collaboration, with a strong focus on achieving durable repairs and optimal long-term results. She is committed to maintaining high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and transparency in her practice.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
