Look, I’m gonna be honest here. I was a mess. A complete and total mess. It was last Tuesday, and I was sitting in my office, staring at the clock. It was 11:30pm, and I had been ‘working’ for the past 6 hours. Working? More like scrolling through social media, binge-watching random YouTube videos, and generally procrastinating. But hey, at least I was in my pajamas, right?

This wasn’t a one-time thing. No, no, no. This was my life. Every single night. I’d stay up way too late, then drag myself out of bed at 7am, feeling like a zombie. And don’t even get me started on the weekends. I’d sleep in until noon, then be wide awake at 3am, staring at the ceiling.

I knew I had a problem. I mean, I’m a senior editor at a major publication. I should be setting an example, not looking like a hot mess. But I was stuck in this cycle, and I didn’t know how to break it.

Desperate Times, Desperate Measures

So, I did what any self-respecting millennial would do. I turned to Google. And Google, being the all-knowing entity it is, pointed me in the direction of a sleep specialist. Let’s call him Marcus. And the biggest change? No screens before bed. None. Zip. Zilch. Nadda. I had to put my phone, my laptop, my tablet, all of it, in another room. And I had to do it at least an hour before bed. It was tough. Really tough. But I did it.

The Results

And you know what? It worked. I mean, it wasn’t instant. It took about three months for me to really get into the groove. But now? I’m sleeping like a baby. I wake up feeling refreshed. I’m more productive. I’m happier. I’m basically a new person.
