About
Training and Background
He graduated in medicine from the University of Leicester with an MBChB and intercalated BSc, before completing higher surgical training in the Wessex Deanery, a leading UK programme for minimally invasive colorectal surgery, and gaining the FRCS (General Surgery). He went on to complete two advanced robotic colorectal fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital in London and the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon.
Clinical Interests and Conditions Treated
Mr Panteleimonitis specialises in robotic and keyhole surgery for colorectal cancer and other bowel conditions, as well as hernia surgery.
Conditions and areas commonly treated include:
• Colon and rectal cancer
• Diverticular disease
• Haemorrhoids and other benign colorectal conditions
• Pilonidal sinus disease (including minimally invasive endoscopic treatment)
• Inguinal, umbilical and other abdominal wall hernias
He places strong emphasis on modern, minimally invasive and robotic techniques to support faster recovery and improved long-term outcomes.
Approach
Patients often describe him as approachable and easy to talk to. He aims to create a calm, supportive environment, explain conditions and procedures in clear language, and involve patients in decisions about their care.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Panteleimonitis is active in research and education in robotic and minimally invasive colorectal surgery, has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and a textbook chapter, and has presented his work at national and international meetings. He has also been involved in media features on robotic surgery, including filming for a Channel 5 documentary about surgeons.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
