Dr Simone Ciufolini
Psychiatry
About
Dr Ciufolini has expertise in assessing, managing, and treating a wide range of mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, adjustment disorder, and traumatic reactions. He has an open and non-judgmental approach, valuing each individual's unique story and perspective.
Dr Ciufolini's academic interests in neuroimaging, psychosis, trauma, and women’s health allow him to recognise the impact of external factors on individuals' health and recovery. Trained in Systemic Psychotherapy and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), he fosters a warm and collaborative therapeutic environment, helping patients acknowledge their experiences, strengths, and resilience to navigate through suffering and distress.
Dr Ciufolini obtained his medical and psychiatry degrees with honours from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. As a Research Fellow at the Department of Psychosis Studies at IoPPN, King’s College London, he explored international perspectives during an exchange program. His commitment to research led to a PhD fellowship from NIHR-BRC, investigating childhood trauma's impact on brain structure and stress response in psychosis.
Balancing clinical and academic roles, Dr Ciufolini contributes to both SLaM and IoPPN, focusing on General Adult and Liaison Psychiatric care while publishing impactful research in high-impact factor peer-reviewed journals.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Ciufolini is a clinical supervisor for junior psychiatrists and Firm Head for medical students at various hospitals affiliated with King's College London. He has presented his research at prestigious international psychiatry conferences and serves as a supervisor for Master’s and Bachelor of Sciences degrees in psychology at IoPPN, King's College London.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
