He treats patients with a wide range of conditions, including the following:
• Anxiety neurosis
• Depression
• Obsessional compulsive disorder
• Traumas related to major traumatic life events.
• Mood disorder
In particular, he has a special interest in general psychiatry and treating older adults with conditions such as memory impairment including dementia.
He gained his medical degree (MBChB) in 1971 from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine. Following this, he specialised in psychiatry and completed a diploma in psychiatry and neurology at the University of London. In 2005, Dr Al-Khalaf became a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and has since been providing high-quality psychiatric services. He has worked closely with leading institutions such as the Priory Hospital in Woking and the Cardinal Clinic in Windsor. Currently, he is working at Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital and the Priory Hospital Woking.
Dr Al-Khalaf is passionate about improving standards of care for psychiatric patients and has been nationally recognised for his work setting up self-help groups and educational programs for trainee doctors. With over 30 years of experience in the field pf Psychiatry and over 50 years of experience in medicine, he is highly experienced.
