He further refined his expertise through international travelling fellowships in Canada, Germany, Turkey and India, learning from globally recognised leaders in spinal surgery, before completing advanced training at the renowned spinal unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

Mr Shafafy teaches on national and international courses and has published extensively in peer-reviewed spinal journals, contributing to ongoing research and advances in spinal surgery.
