He worked as an Assistant Professor (lecturer) at Nair Hospital, Mumbai from 2012 to 2014. He underwent a clinical fellowship in advanced interventional endoscopy/Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) at Shengjing Hospital, China under the mentorship of Professor Sun Siyu in 2015. In 2015, Dr. Somani was granted the Asian Young Endoscopist award by the Korean Society of Endoscopy and underwent training in ERCP/Interventional EUS at National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea.
He underwent a clinical fellowship in advanced ERCP/EUS at Jaswant Rai Speciality Hospital, Meerut, India under the mentorship of Dr. Malay Sharma from 2015-2016. He performed more than 750 Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) procedures and around 250 FNAC/Biopsies. He performed around 500 complex ERCP procedures. He was trained in Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), GERX, and POEM procedures. He was the only recipient of the prestigious American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) International Training grant in 2015. As a part of this grant, he pursued a fellowship in Cholangioscopy/EMR/interventional EUS at the center for interventional endoscopy (CIE), Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida in 2016. 
In UAE, he worked with Thumbay Hospital, Dubai for 4 yrs. He was head of the department at NMC Royal Hospital, Sharjah from 2020 to 2023. He was instrumental in starting/developing the gastroenterology department and performed more than 3500 endoscopies.
