About Dr Philip Allan
Dr Philip Allan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital, Oxford and was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2015. He has a wealth of experience in gastroenterology and both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy). Dr Allan is a general gastroenterologist, who delivers compassionate quality care for his patients in all areas. He has both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic skills for: • Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD)/Gastroscopy • Sigmoidoscopy • Colonoscopy Dr Allan is available to consult on the following conditions: • abdominal pain • bile salt malabsorption • coeliac disease • constipation • diarrhoea • dyspepsia • inflammatory bowel disease • iron deficiency anaemia • macro- and micro-nutrient deficiencies • microscopic colitis • pancreatic insufficiency • post-cancer treatment symptoms Dr Allan graduated from University College London Medical School in 2001 and undertook specialist training in Gastroenterology in Oxford and surrounding hospitals. He then undertook research into immune cell signalling in Crohn's disease and gained his DPil in 2013. Following his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), he completed a post-CCT fellowship in Advanced Nutrition where he spent 6 months in the Intestinal Failure Unit at Salford Royal 6 months with the Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant teams in Oxford. Dr Allan is widely published in the fields of clinical nutrition, intestinal failure and intestinal transplantation. He has research interests in intestinal failure associated liver disease and immunological cell tracking.
