About Mr Tom Setchell
Mr Setchell is a highly experienced Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with particular expertise in Minimal Access Surgery, including both laparoscopic (keyhole) and hysteroscopic procedures. After completing his medical degree at the University of Nottingham in 2000, he has built a career dedicated to women’s health, combining advanced surgical skills with compassionate patient care. He manages a wide range of gynaecological conditions, with specialist interests in fibroids, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and fertility-related concerns. His proficiency in minimally invasive surgery allows many patients to benefit from shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and less discomfort compared to traditional procedures. In addition to his surgical expertise, Mr Setchell provides care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. He is committed to ensuring women feel supported and informed, placing emphasis on patient choice and the wellbeing of both mother and baby. Mr Setchell holds a consultant post at St Mary’s Hospital in London, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Alongside his clinical practice, he is passionate about education and plays an active role in training the next generation of doctors, with a particular focus on surgical simulation techniques.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
