Mr Yates was appointed as an ENT Consultant at Newcastle upon
Tyne Hospitals in 2002. He is experienced in the treatment of general ENT
disorders in both adults and children.
He trained in the UK but also undertook a fellowship in
disorders of the ear at the University of California, San Francisco, USA.
Mr Yates has expertise in disorders of the ears and hearing.
However, his wide experience and training enable him to provide a high quality
of care for most ENT conditions in adults and children. He carries out private
consultations, investigations, treatment and surgery at Nuffield Health
Newcastle Hospital.
His subspecialist interest is implant otology. He carries
out bone conduction hearing implants and middle ear implants. He is also one of
three surgeons for the North East Regional Cochlear Implant programme.
Mr Yates has an interest in education and is an organiser of a
National Temporal Bone Dissection course run at the Newcastle Surgical Training
Centre, Freeman Hospital.
Mr Yates is a clinical leader at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals,
his employing NHS Trust. He has previously been a Clinical Director for the
departments of ENT, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology and Dermatology and is
currently Clinical Board Chair of the Surgical and Associated Specialties Board
at the Trust.
