Early in his career he gained international experience by working overseas, first as a Resident Medical Officer at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, and in Barcaldine in outback Queensland. He later worked as an Emergency Physician in Khamis Mushayt, Saudi Arabia, before returning to the United Kingdom to continue his surgical training.
He completed his Basic Surgical Training in Bristol before undertaking Specialist Orthopaedic Training on the London and South West Thames rotation, a highly regarded training programme that included placements in a number of leading district general hospitals as well as St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London.
Following completion of his specialist training, Mr Foote undertook advanced fellowship training in joint replacement surgery. He completed a Hip Fellowship at Southmead Hospital in Bristol under Professor Blom and his team, gaining extensive experience in complex primary and revision hip replacement surgery. He then completed a Specialist Knee Fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, working with Professor Price and colleagues, where he received further training in complex knee replacement surgery and in performing the well-known Oxford partial knee replacement.
Mr Foote has particular expertise in both primary and revision hip replacement surgery. He offers a range of techniques including fully uncemented, hybrid and fully cemented hip replacements using modern implant designs and bearing surfaces. In addition, he performs partial and total knee replacements as well as arthroscopic knee procedures. He also has an interest in the management of fractures and infections around hip and knee replacements.
To ensure that his patients benefit from the latest developments in orthopaedic care, Mr Foote regularly attends national and international professional meetings. He carefully plans each joint replacement procedure using specialised digital templating software to optimise implant selection and positioning, helping to achieve the best possible surgical outcomes.
