Mr. Hornung was trained in basic surgery at Yorkshire and he proceeded to University Hospital South Manchester to undertake clinical research on the investigation of the pathophysiology of pelvic floor pathology. After the research, Mr. Hornung undertook his higher surgical training in the northwest, helping him to gain skills in general and colorectal surgery at the major tertiary centres. As a specialist, he is interested in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. Before he attained the position of a consultant, he completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery in Yorkshire. When it comes to research, Mr Hornung has articles in various publications and he has been to national and international meetings for presentation. He is into clinical research and recruiting patients to a number of national multicentre clinical trials. Mr Hornung provides outstanding surgical management established on evidence-based practice for general and colorectal surgical conditions that includes surgery for haemorrhoids, anal fissure/fistula, hernia, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and bowel cancer. He works at the Urgent Care Centre at BMI The Alexandra Hospital that offers a walk-in self-pay service that does not require GP referral for patients. Mr Hornung works as a Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
