About Mr Ashvin L Pimpalnerkar
Mr Ashvin Pimpalnerkar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than eighteen years of experience at Spire Little Aston Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, including Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield. His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of knee and hip surgery, with particular experience in sports-related injuries, arthroscopic procedures, cartilage grafting, and young adult joint replacement. He also performs primary hip and knee replacement surgery and offers robotically assisted joint replacement using the Mako system. He completed his higher orthopaedic training in the West Midlands before undertaking advanced surgical fellowships. These included a fellowship in knee surgery focusing on joint replacement and sports injuries at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and further sports surgery fellowships at the Sports Medicine Centre in Calgary, Canada, and the Naval Medical Center in Balboa, USA. His work spans both elective and complex joint surgery with extensive experience in soft tissue and cartilage procedures. Mr Pimpalnerkar has served as honorary club surgeon for Walsall Football Club and Birmingham City Football Club and has previously held a team surgeon role at West Bromwich Albion. He also sees players from Aston Villa Football Club. He has contributed to international training and regularly teaches as part of international faculty roles. His work is published in several international journals, and he participates in cartilage transplantation and research panels as well as sports medicine and military medicine groups.
