Miss Joanna Franks is highly experienced in performing breast and oncoplastic surgery for both malignant and benign breast conditions. Additionally, she devotes a lot of her working time to the early diagnosis of breast cancer, mastectomy procedures, breast conservation, and breast cancer screening.
Miss Franks graduated with her undergraduate degree in medicine from Imperial College London, before undertaking research into pathology funded by the MRC. Following this, she undertook her Higher Surgical Training within the London Deanery, working and learning at several highly prestigious units including the Oncoplastic Breast Unit at UCLH and the Macmillan Cancer Centre. She also completed a Master's Degree in Medical Education, allowing her to improve the standards at several renowned London Medical Schools such as the Royal Free Medical School and UCLH medical school. On top of this, she is also a Medical Assessor for the GMC.
Miss Franks has dedicated her time to charity, as a trustee for the Future of Dreams Organisation she is responsible for raising awareness, support, and funds for patients with breast cancer. She also held the position of Pan London Breast Hub Co-ordinator, in response to COVID-19 she ensured that breast cancer patients were still treated and diagnosed during the pandemic.
