About

Mr. Matthew Kenyon is a highly experienced and passionate physiotherapist, specialising in musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation. He is dedicated to providing each client with the best possible experience at The Performance Lab, where they create a transparent, milestone-driven pathway designed to help clients achieve their goals through a carefully structured plan. The pathway is the result of years of collaboration between Matt and his colleague Phil, combining their extensive experience and research to ensure clients receive effective and targeted rehabilitation.

Matt graduated in Physiotherapy from Salford University in 2003, after completing a degree in Sports Science. Since then, he has worked in the NHS, progressing to the highest clinical position within his local NHS Trust. He completed post-graduate training in Musculoskeletal Injury and earned a Masters Degree in Advanced Musculoskeletal Diagnosis and Treatment with distinction in 2015. Additionally, Matt is a research scholar with the National Institute of Health Research and an Honorary Fellow.

With over 15 years of private practice experience, Matt has treated national-level athletes across various sports, including swimming, badminton, football, cross-fit, and track and field. He has developed a particular interest in hip and knee injuries, working alongside leading Orthopaedic Surgeons to develop evidence-based rehabilitation programs for a wide range of lower limb injuries. These include ACL tears, meniscal injuries, hip impingement, labral tears, and hip and knee osteoarthritis.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Matt is also an active tendon researcher, collaborating with world leaders in the field. He is currently conducting exciting research on Achilles tendon injuries and recovery with Phil, and his research has been presented at international conferences. Matt holds multiple research grants and scholarships, underlining his dedication to advancing the understanding and treatment of tendon injuries.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
