Dr. Luiz Toledo, Brazilian Plastic Surgeon, studied in São Paulo and went on to train and specialize under Prof. William Callia, graduating as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in 1975 and becoming a member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery – SBCP – in 1976.
Dr. Toledo worked from his Plastic Surgery Clinic in São Paulo offering his patients, many who came from abroad to operate, facial and body contouring surgeries and procedures along with his aftercare facility Beatrix Aesthetics for skin care and lymphatic drainage. While maintaining his practice and working around the Middle East region since 2001, Dr. Toledo was offered a position in a busy Dubai practice and moved to Dubai in 2006 with his family.
Dr. Toledo, over the past nearly 30 years, has been involved in lecturing and teaching around the world. He has written and edited 14 books. His book “Refinements in Facial and Body Contouring” has been translated into several languages. His “Superficial Liposculpture” book became one of the landmark books on the technique.
He has published more than 70 scientific papers and guest-edited editions of Clinics in Plastic Surgery. He has given teaching courses on his face and body contouring techniques at the ASPS and ASAPS congresses for 15 years.
He was the ISAPS Course Director for seven years, organizing courses all over the world. He developed and directed the ISAPS Public Information Committee for six years. He was ISAPS National Secretary for Brazil for 4 years and was ISAPS NS for the UAE also for 4 years.
He was the scientific director of the Emirates Plastic Surgery Society for six years, organizing monthly meetings and Annual Congresses of the EPSS for the local plastic surgeons.He organized the first ISAPS International Course in Dubai in January 2014. He worked out of his clinic, Shape Medical Centre, and operated at Dubai London Clinic Specialty Hospital in Jumeirah, Dubai.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Dr. Toledo moved with his family to Lisbon, Portugal, where he worked at Hospital Saint Louis. In 2022, he moved back to Dubai and now works at Enfield Royal Clinics.
Dr. Toledo’s technical skill and aesthetic eye gives dramatic results to his body contouring work. He is one of the key developers of Superficial Liposculpture, a refined technique to improve the results of body contouring surgery.
Under the minimally invasive techniques we see his expertise in facial rejuvenation before the patient needs a face lift.
Fat grafting, pioneered by Dr. Toledo almost 30 years ago is indicated frequently during his consultations, a natural way of using the patient’s own fat to replace the lost volume in the face and body.
Dr. Toledo is one of the few Plastic Surgeons in Dubai who performs the total body lift often indicated after massive weight loss. Dr. Toledo performs all aesthetic procedures for the face and body including some of the more traditional techniques, the majority of them undertaken in a high-tech hospital in Dubai. He was one of the first doctors in 1992 to utilize computer imaging in his consultations. This imaging method allows the patient to see an instant simulation of the proposed result of the surgery. This way we can confirm that the Dr. and the patient have the same end result in mind before undergoing the procedure.
