Dr Zhu has expertise in the treatment of a comprehensive range of colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancer, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and various anorectal conditions (such as haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, anal fissures, and fistulae). Dr Zhu performs minimally invasive surgery techniques (including robotic surgery) for optimal patient outcomes. Dr Zhu also has expertise in endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy, in addition to general surgical procedures (including hernia repair and gallbladder surgery).

Dr Zhu completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 2007, followed by general surgery training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015 and later completed post-fellowship sub-specialist training in colorectal surgery at Wollongong Hospital. Subsequently, she gained fellowship to the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand (CSSANZ), training at The Alfred Hospital Melbourne and Concord General & Repatriation Hospital. Dr Zhu has further robotic surgery training from Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.  Dr Zhu also holds a Masters of Surgery degree in Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Zhu has contributed to multiple scientific publications and serves as a reviewer for the Australia & New Zealand Journal of Surgery.
