Professor Keogh is a consultant otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon. They are a graduate of The National University of Ireland. Professor Keogh also completed speciality training under the supervision of The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Training Programme.
Professor Keogh undertook clinical fellowships in Otology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery at The Portmann Institute, Bordeaux, France and University Hospital Insespital, Bern, Switzerland. They were awarded a Doctorate in Medicine in 2006.
Professor Keogh is a founder of the Irish Centre for Patient Safety, based in Galway. In 2012, they were awarded the prestigious Benjamins prize for research by The Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum (CORLAS).
