Sie engagierte sich in zahlreichen Fachgesellschaften und war Präsidentin der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Plastische und Wiederherstellungschirurgie, der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Chirurgie sowie der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Handchirurgie. Unter ihrer Leitung entwickelte sich die Klinik, an der sie tätig war, zu einem Zentrum für die operative Korrektur von Handfehlbildungen bei Kindern.
Univ.Prof. Dr. Piza, Pädiatrische Chirurgie, gilt als Pionierin auf ihrem Gebiet und hat durch ihre Arbeit das Leben vieler Patientinnen und Patienten positiv beeinflusst.
