About Miss Hala Ali
Miss Hala Ali is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust with specialist expertise in corneal & anterior segment disorders, cataract, refractive surgery, and external eye diseases. She provides comprehensive care for adults and also paediatric ophthalmic care through dedicated sessions.
Miss Ali graduated in Medicine with Merit and a BSc in Psychology with Honours, from Guy's, King's College and St Thomas' School of Medicine, London. She went on to graduate with an MSc with Distinction in Biology of Vision at University College London’s Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital. She completed her Ophthalmic training within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. Her advanced clinical training included fellowships in Cornea, Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery. As a result she has gained expertise in corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease and refractive surgery. She went on to achieve the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and holds the Certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery.
Miss Ali has a strong commitment to education and leadership within ophthalmology. She is an accredited Educational Supervisor and Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
She has presented extensively at national and international conferences. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals. During her MSc she identified new genetic mutations linked to the condition of megalocornea. Her other clinical and research interests include keratoconus, corneal graft surgery, femtosecond laser cataract surgery,
cataract outcomes, and innovation in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
She is a member of The United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and European Society of Cataract and Refractive surgeons (ESCRS)
