About

Dr Gary Galambos is a Consultant Psychiatrist and the Director of Psychiatry at St Vincent Private Hospital Sydney. He has extensive expertise in medication management, psychoeducation, and individual and family psychotherapy. Dr Galambos completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 1991, followed by his specialist training in psychiatry. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1999.

Dr Galambos has specialist expertise in mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders. He has experience managing these conditions with a range of therapeutic modalities, including dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Over the past decade, Dr Galambos has directed his efforts toward developing early intervention services for young adults dealing with mental disorders. At St Vincent’s Private Hospital, he acts as the Medical Director for inpatient care at USpace, the young adult mental health service at the hospital.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Galambos has served as a counsellor for the Medical Benevolent Association of NSW, a charitable organisation aiding doctors in distress facing psychosocial challenges. In his role as Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales Medical School, Dr provides lectures, training sessions, supervision and mentoring to psychiatry trainees, medical officers, medical students, general practitioners and allied health clinicians in both public and private sectors.
