Dr. Fiona Taylor qualified from the Royal London Medical School in 1996 and has been working as a specialist registrar in General Surgery/Colorectal since 2002. She undertook research during her specialist training, collaborating with The Royal Marsden to investigate the role of MRI scanning related to staging and treating rectal cancer. This resulted in her being awarded a Doctor of Medicine postgraduate doctorate degree from Imperial College. After completing surgical training within the London Deanery, she spent some time receiving further specialist training in Australia before being appointed a consultant colorectal surgeon at Whipps Cross Hospital (Bart's Health) in 2012. Her clinical practice focuses on elective and emergency general surgery, with a particular interest in colorectal disease. Within this area, she has expertise in colonoscopy, colorectal cancer surgery, and benign colorectal conditions. She performs most of her major colorectal cancer resections and benign operations laparoscopically (keyhole approach), and is experienced in assessing and treating benign colorectal perianal conditions.
