She earned her MBChB in 1997 from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She then worked in Namibia and rural South Africa, where she gained valuable expertise. Following this, she obtained her Advanced Cardiac, Paediatric, and Trauma Life Support certifications.
Dr Tatton then fulfilled her desire to travel and worked at a number of private hospitals in the United Kingdom. She later returned to Cape Town to work at the Red Cross Children's Hospital, then at A&E. During this period, she also spent time as a flight doctor and as a ship's doctor. Following this, she joined a full-time private general practice in Cape Town, where she worked for 8 years before moving to the UK to continue working in A&E, health screening, and general practice.
