About

Dr Kwan has almost three decades' clinical experience in stroke medicine, neurorehabilitation, internal medicine & gerontology. After qualifying in medicine from Bristol (1994), he pursued academic research and specialist training in Southampton (MPhil) and Edinburgh (MD). He also trained in clinical neurology at UCL Queens Square, plant-based nutrition at Cornell, and dementia scholarship at UCSF. He has a specialist interest in cardiovascular disease prevention through lifestyle medicine, and is certified by the European Atheroscloerosis Society in Lipidology. 

Dr Kwan works as a stroke consultant at Charing Cross Hospital. He pioneered lipid optimisation in the hyper acute stroke unit, setting up specialist post-stroke lipid clinic, and introduced a stroke lipid CNS. He has published over 155 scientific articles and book chapters, and won several major awards in stroke care. He is the Clinical Standards Chair for the British & Irish Association of Stroke Physicians (BIASP).

At the Cleveland Clinic London, Dr Kwan is a consultant physician in stroke medicine, neurorehabilitation and acute medicine. His approach is personalised, bespoke and holistic, empowering you through nutritional optimisation and exercise for disease prevention and well-being enhancement. He can provide guidance on recovery, prognosis, return to work and quality of life.

Outside of work, Dr Kwan is a father of four, enjoys healthy eating and fitness training. He lectures for Chelsea Football Club Foundation (education and exercise programme for TIA & stroke patients) and the Stroke Association (nutrition and exercise after stroke) as well as fund raising for charities.
