About
I completed my medical degree in Italy, followed by postgraduate qualifications in General Adult Psychiatry in London.
With a deep passion for research, I spent four years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, USA, where I focused on advancing my knowledge and experience.
Clinical Experience
I specialise in the assessment and management of various psychiatric disorders, including anxiety disorders (such as Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), ADHD, mood disorders (Depression, Bipolar Disorder), psychosis (Schizophrenia), and personality disorders.
Throughout my career, I have worked in numerous NHS psychiatric services, including the Early Intervention Unit for Psychosis (South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, South West London & St George’s Mental Health Trust), the Home Treatment Team, Community Mental Health Team, and the Neuropsychiatric Department at St George’s Hospital.
Since 2013, I have held the role of Consultant Psychiatrist at South West London & St George’s Mental Health Trust.
Additionally, I completed a one-year foundation course in Family Therapy and am currently undergoing postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Family Interventions for Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder.
I am committed to continuing professional development, and I am appraised annually by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the General Medical Council (GMC), holding a Certificate of Good Standing.
What to Expect
During the initial consultation, we will discuss your concerns, treatment expectations, and review your psychiatric and medical history, as well as your personal background. Depending on the complexity, this may take one or two sessions. Together, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. At the end of the consultation, I will determine if a diagnosis is appropriate and, if necessary, recommend or prescribe medications.
After the initial assessment, I may advise follow-up appointments or suggest psychological interventions based on your individual circumstances.
I offer both face-to-face consultations at Harley Street in Central London, as well as online consultations. Additionally, I provide psychiatric reports, including medico-legal evaluations.
Research Activity
Research plays a pivotal role in improving our understanding and treatment of mental health conditions. My research interests focus on how genetic and environmental factors contribute to psychiatric disorders.
My research career began in 2004 when I joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow, concentrating on addiction and personality disorders. In 2008, I earned a PhD in the neurobiology of affective disorders and have since published several articles in international scientific journals.
Upon returning to London, I continued my research as a Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London.
