Dr Deepali Poels

About
Dr Poels completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Gulbarga University, India, in 2000, before undertaking further postgraduate training in surgery. She achieved Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2007 and later completed a Master of Surgery (MS) in Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University of Sydney in 2014. As well as this she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2020.
Her areas of special interest include laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction, and gastrointestinal endoscopy. Dr Poels is an active member of a multidisciplinary cancer care team, working collaboratively with other specialists to coordinate comprehensive care for people affected by cancer.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Poels is deeply involved in medical education. She has significant experience teaching medical students and training doctors, and regularly delivers instruction in basic surgical skills to residents and medical students, supporting the next generation of surgeons.
