Mr Christopher Nicolay

About
Mr Nicolay completed his undergraduate medical training at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge, where he was awarded an MA in Natural Sciences, before going on to study medicine at Imperial College London, qualifying in 2004. He subsequently undertook a PhD in Organisational Health in Healthcare at Imperial College London. His higher surgical training was completed on the North West London Registrar Rotation, gaining broad experience across major London teaching hospitals.
He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in General Surgery in 2017 and joined the GMC Specialist Register. To further refine his specialist skills, Mr Nicolay completed the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Senior Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at Frimley Park Hospital in 2019.
Clinically, Mr Nicolay specialises in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, bowel cancer, colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, and the management of coloproctological conditions including haemorrhoids (piles), anal fissures and fistula-in-ano. He also has significant expertise in hernia surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. He is an active member of colorectal cancer and abdominal wall reconstruction multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital, where he also serves as Clinical Governance Lead for Planned Care within the Trust.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Nicolay has authored numerous papers published in peer-reviewed journals and remains actively involved in service development and governance. He currently holds a consultant post at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and sees private patients through the Trust’s private patient services, as well as at OneWelbeck and The Lister Hospital, Chelsea.
