About

Dr Anson is a specialist medical practitioner in the field of psychiatry, providing treatment for adults. Dr Anson provides individualised psychiatric assessment and evidence-based recovery recommendations. This involves non-pharmacological interventions (including education, psychological therapies, behavioural, medical and social interventions) and sometimes pharmacological recommendations (including pre-conception counselling, pregnancy and breastfeeding). Dr Anson will liaise closely with carers, families, GPs, specialists and other professionals where necessary.

Dr Anson believes that everyone is part of a positive movement about challenging the stigma of mental health. Dr Anson feels that when they started out as a doctor, there was a much more shameful silence around doctors sharing their experience of mental health. Dr Anson feels that as doctors, they are patients too, in every sense. The same kindness and patience bestowed on patients should be bestowed on colleagues and ourselves.

Dr Anson believes that sharing a creative life is key, sometimes art can convey the lived experience between than a bland procedural sheet or hospital memo. Art in all forms keeps Dr Anson going, they love hearing and seeing the creative pursuits of their medical peers whether it's seeing a friend's gig, their artwork, their poetry, they think it's nice to see that even as doctors we can have a life outside of medicine.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
