Billy Jowett graduated from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Medical School in 1996, he was a houseman at Worthing and then St. Thomas’ Hospitals and subsequently worked in Accident and Emergency at St. Thomas’ and taught anatomy at the medical school. He undertook his basic surgical training and his specialist orthopaedic training in the Wessex region.
His training was augmented by an AO trauma fellowship in Seattle, USA, in 2002 and foot and ankle fellowships in Auckland, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia in 2006-7 for which he was awarded an HCA International travelling fellowship. He was awarded an American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Travelling Fellowship for 2010, during which he visited world leaders in the field of foot and ankle surgery in New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Duke and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr Jowett was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust in 2008. His special interests are sports injuries to the foot and ankle, arthroscopic surgery, bunion surgery and total ankle replacement.
Mr Jowett has published and presented internationally on foot and ankle problems. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association as well as the British and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Societies.
Mr Jowett has been working in private practice since 2008 and set up the South Downs Foot and Ankle CLinic in 2010.
