Dr Akanksha Bagchi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. She specialises in the diagnosis and management of eye conditions, with particular expertise in glaucoma and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), including procedures such as the Hydrus Microstent and iStent Inject.
Dr Bagchi completed a prestigious Glaucoma Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London between 2023 and 2024. During this fellowship she worked in high-volume tertiary glaucoma clinics under the supervision of leading Moorfields consultants, gaining advanced experience in both medical and surgical glaucoma management.
She completed her ophthalmology residency with a Master of Science (MS) in Ophthalmology at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda between 2011 and 2014. Prior to this, she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 2011.
Through her specialist training and clinical practice, Dr Bagchi has developed strong expertise in glaucoma care, combining advanced surgical techniques with comprehensive medical management to protect patients’ vision and long-term eye health. She is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care using the latest developments in ophthalmology.
