After a home sleep study, a comprehensive report is generated, detailing sleep patterns, disturbances, breathing irregularities, movements, and oxygen levels throughout the night. A qualified sleep physician reviews the data, diagnoses any sleep disorders, and provides clinical recommendations. Based on these results, treatment options can be arranged, enabling patients to begin therapy promptly or after consultation with the reporting physician.
Home Sleep testing identifies the underlying causes of sleep disruption, including breathing irregularities, leg and jaw movements, and other sleep disturbances. Key measures include the Arousal Index (number of awakenings per hour), the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) or Respiratory Disturbance Index (RDI) for breathing interruptions, and the Periodic Limb Movement Index (PLMI). Mild disruption is considered waking 5–15 times per hour, while more than 15 awakenings per hour indicates a significant sleep problem requiring intervention.
