Dr Zacharias Tsiamoulos

Dr Zacharias Tsiamoulos is a highly accomplished and respected Consultant Gastroenterologist at Spencer Private Hospital Margate specialising on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colorectal conditions. Dr Tsiamoulos obtained his MBBS degree with Honours from the First Lyceum of Tripolis and has since established himself as a prominent figure in the field of Gastroenterology. His special clinical interests include managing Inflammatory Bowel Disease, complex polyps, colonic dilatations, colon polypectomies, colorectal cancer, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and bowel cancer. As a member of various prestigious professional bodies, including the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the British Society of Gastroenterology, Dr Tsiamoulos actively contributes to the scientific community. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications and serves as a reviewer for esteemed journals, showcasing his commitment to advancing research and knowledge in the field. For five years, from 2012 to 2017, Dr Tsiamoulos held an esteemed position as the Clinical Endoscopy/Research Fellow and Senior Gastroenterologist/Endoscopist at the Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy at St Mark's Hospital and Academic Institute. During this time, he collaborated with Professor Brian P. Saunders on several groundbreaking projects. Dr Tsiamoulos is widely recognized for his significant contributions to endoscopy advancements. He co-created Endocuff Vision™, an innovative scope design that has led to improved polyp colonoscopy quality and efficiency. Clinical use of Endocuff Vision™ has demonstrated a higher detection rate of precancerous polyps and has registered a 10% increase in tumour detection rate within the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. With an impressive background in research, Dr Tsiamoulos completed a basic PhD thesis on molecular mimicry in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and ongoing clinical MD (Res) research in Luminal at Imperial College, London. These achievements have further solidified his expertise in the field of Gastroenterology. As a Consultant in Gastroenterology and Specialist in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at East Kent University Hospital Foundation NHS Trust since 2015, Dr Tsiamoulos plays a vital role in providing top-tier healthcare services to patients in the region. His exceptional leadership qualities, vast knowledge, and dedication to advancing endoscopy techniques have earned him opportunities to deliver talks, presentations, and training sessions around the world.
