Dr Udit Mittal MBBS, MRCP(UK), FRCP(London), FRCP(Edin) is a leading Consultant Gastroenterologist, and nationally accredited bowel‑cancer‑screening colonoscopist at Oxford University Hospitals. With thousands of procedures performed, he offers specialist diagnosis and management for a comprehensive range of digestive and liver disorders. His practice covers heartburn and acid reflux (gastro‑oesophageal reflux disease and GORD), indigestion (dyspepsia), swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), irritable bowel disorders, coeliac disease and food intolerances, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), rectal bleeding, haemorrhoids, gallstones, diverticular disease, diverticulitis, Barrett’s oesophagus, microscopic colitis, colon polyps and colorectal cancer screening, as well as nutritional and immune‑related conditions such as iron‑deficiency anaemia, autoimmune gastritis, haemochromatosis and malabsorption syndromes. He manages liver and pancreaticobiliary disease including fatty liver, cirrhosis, jaundice, pancreatitis, gallbladder polyps and gallstones, and offers expertise in gut‑microbiome imbalances (SIBO and dysbiosis), functional bowel disease, bloating, nausea and vomiting, unexplained weight loss and food intolerance. Dr Mittal graduated in 2006, completed internal medicine training in Sheffield, and specialised in gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy in Oxford. He was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, where he developed a reputation for meticulous, compassionate care. As a nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, he performs a very high volume of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy (OGD), colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, polypectomy and advanced endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). His focus is on early detection, precision diagnostics and prevention to reduce the risk of cancer and serious gastrointestinal disease. A champion of patient‑centred care, Dr Mittal offers private endoscopy and colonoscopy with sedation at The Manor Hospital in Oxford, The New Foscote Hospital in Banbury and the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital in Aylesbury. He provides face‑to‑face, video and telephone consultations for both insured and self‑funding patients, with appointments available in the evenings to accommodate busy schedules.
