About Ms Tasmin Berman
Ms Tasmin Berman is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery, including complex cataract procedures, at the Countess of Chester Hospital. She graduated from Newcastle University Medical School and completed her ophthalmology training within the Mersey region. She then undertook a year-long subspecialty programme in glaucoma at St Paul’s Eye Hospital, Liverpool, followed by a prestigious post-training glaucoma fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, where she trained under Mr Leon Au and Ms Cecilia Fenerty. Ms Berman has a strong passion for teaching and education. She is a member of the training faculty at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, where she teaches surgical skills to junior doctors, and also serves as college tutor for ophthalmology trainees at the Countess of Chester. Alongside her clinical and educational work, Ms Berman is actively involved in research and has published in peer-reviewed journals, presenting her findings at national and international conferences. Her special interests include cataract surgery (routine, complex, and combined with minor glaucoma procedures to reduce reliance on eye drops), glaucoma surgery (trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, Preserflo, and microinvasive glaucoma surgery), and glaucoma laser treatments such as selective laser trabeculoplasty.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
