About Mr Syed Shahid
Mr Syed Shahid is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract & Vitreoretinal Surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bristol in 2010 and completed his foundation training in South Thames Foundation School. Mr. Shahid holds a Masters in Clinical Ophthalmology from University College London and underwent Ophthalmology training in the North London Deanery, culminating in an 18-month fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital. His surgical expertise includes routine and complex cataract surgery, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, secondary intraocular lens implantation, vitreous haemorrhage, and vitreous floaters. Mr. Shahid has extensive emergency Ophthalmology experience, having served as a locum consultant in the Accident & Emergency department of Moorfields Eye Hospital from 2019 to 2020. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals such as Retina, British Medical Journal, and Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, and has presented at numerous international conferences across the UK and Europe. Outside of work, Mr. Shahid enjoys playing tennis and cricket, as well as spending quality time with his family.
