About Mr Simon Moten
Renowned Cardiothoracic Surgeon Mr Simon Moten practises at Epworth Richmond, and Austin Hospital. He is highly experienced and specialises in adult cardiac surgery, with particular interest in sutureless aortic valve replacements, minimally invasive mitral and aortic valve surgery, and robotic cardiac surgery. He manages and treats a broad range of cardiothoracic surgical conditions He has expertise in the following areas: • Minimally invasive keyhole surgery • Coronary disease • Valvular heart disease • Atrial Fibrillation surgery • Endocarditis • Heart failure and surgical treatment of heart failure • Pericardium • Mitral Valve Disease • Aortic valve disease • Tricuspid valve disease Mr Moten earned his medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 1991 before undertaking basic surgical training and cardiothoracic specialty training. In 2004, he gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and went on to complete a Fellowship at East Carolina University in the United States, focusing on minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery under the renowned mitral valve and robotic surgeon, Dr. Randolph Chitwood III. Mr Moten is a recognised expert in the insertion of sutureless aortic valves and an advocate of minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery procedures. Mr Moten is a member of a number of professional organisations including the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons, the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.
