Weitere Schwerpunkte in der rekonstruktiven Brustchirurgie und Dermatochirurgie des Gesichts folgten im Klinikum Görlitz.
Als Oberarzt für Plastische und Ästhetische Chirurgie war Dr. Ahrens am Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin sowie an der Universitätsklinik Lübeck tätig. Im Jahr 2012 gründete er die privatärztliche Praxisklinik AesthetiCum in Berlin. Zusätzlich arbeitet er in der Praxisklinik Charlottenburg und im Ästhetik-Team der Schön Kliniken Nürnberg/Fürth.
