About Mr Ryan Mathew
Mr Ryan Mathew is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds and an Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He leads an extensive research programme within Neurosurgery, focusing on surgical technologies and devices, as well as translational brain cancer science. In addition to this, he supervises numerous PhD and MD students. Furthermore, his expertise is sought by a number of journals and grant award committees for peer review. Mr Mathew has published numerous papers and has been Lead or Co-applicant on grant funding. Mr Mathew earned an MBChB with Honours and an intercalated BSc with Honours in Clinical Sciences (Tissue Engineering) research. During his neurosurgical training, he undertook further basic science research into brain cancer and was awarded a PhD based on Glioma Modelling using induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) and Cerebral Organoids.
