Orthopaedic Surgery
About
Following his passion for orthopaedics, Mr. Banerjee underwent specialist training in Orthopaedics at the renowned Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, West Midlands. He further honed his skills and knowledge by spending a year as the 10th Cavendish Hip Fellow under the guidance of Professor Ian Stockley in Sheffield. During this fellowship, Mr. Banerjee gained expertise in complex revision hip and knee surgery and contributed to research on the treatment of infection in joint replacements. His research collaborations with Sheffield Hallam University continue, and he now holds the position of Honorary Lecturer there.
In September 2009, Mr. Banerjee assumed the role of Consultant lower limb arthroplasty surgeon at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. In his practice, he focuses on hip and knee replacements, performing over 250 primary surgeries and up to 50 revision surgeries each year. Additionally, he conducts arthroscopic knee surgeries and other day case procedures.
Mr. Banerjee has a keen interest in medical education and actively participates in teaching trainees at both Core and Specialist levels. He also provides education to Advanced Nurse Practitioners and General Practitioners through training days, advice leaflets, and educational publications. He is a member of the British Medical Association (BMA) and the British Hip Society.
Mr. Banerjee maintains both NHS and private practices, seeing patients at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital as well as privately at The Nuffield Hospital in Shrewsbury. His areas of expertise include enhanced rehabilitation in primary hip and knee replacements, complex primary hip and knee reconstruction, young patients with arthritis following hip dysplasia, Perthes, or previous trauma, revision hip and knee replacements for aseptic loosening, infection, and metal wear, and femoral and acetabular reconstruction with bone grafting and/or specialist titanium augmentation.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
