Dr. Rajesh Maheshwari is a highly experienced Neonatal Paediatrician dedicated to the care of newborns and infants. He completed his foundational paediatric training at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, before moving to Australia, where he undertook advanced training in Neonatal–Perinatal Medicine through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health Division), obtaining his fellowship in 2013.
Dr. Maheshwari also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Sydney, where his thesis focused on neonatal airway access (endotracheal intubation) and methods to improve its safety in newborns.
He currently serves as a full-time Staff Specialist in Neonatology at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Westmead Hospital, one of Australia’s busiest and most advanced neonatal centres. His clinical work involves caring for critically ill newborns and monitoring their growth and development through outpatient follow-up.
Dr. Maheshwari’s research is centred on optimising neonatal growth, development, and safety. His current projects include studies on neonatal thermoregulation, near-infrared spectroscopy in preterm infants, and bone health in premature babies.
