Dr Prajwol Shrestha is a Medical Oncologist practising at Calvary Mater Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Private Hospitals. He provides care across a range of cancer types, mainly GI, breast, skin and H&N cancers.
His early medical training was undertaken at Liverpool, Gosford and Nepean Hospitals, with completion of Basic Physician Training in 2018. Dr Shrestha completed his specialist training in Medical Oncology at Calvary Mater Newcastle and the Central Coast Cancer Centre. He subsequently undertook a fellowship in early-phase clinical trials at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney. Prior to relocating to Newcastle, he also worked in a range of clinical settings across Queensland and South Australia.
Dr Shrestha’s emphasizes on individualised treatment with plan tailored to each patient’s clinical needs and preferences, with the aim of supporting both treatment outcomes and quality of life.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Shrestha is actively involved in clinical research. He has a particular interest in biomarker-driven clinical trials and has undertaken research into liquid biopsy biomarkers in Centenary Institute, RPA. He is a member of several professional organisations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the European Society of Medical Oncology, and the Medical Oncology Group of Australia. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at national and international conferences.
